The Milwaukee Brewers lost the opening of the game of the Wild Card Series to the Arizona Diamondbacks by a score of 6-3.   Ace Corbin Burnes did not pitch well, the offense put up three runs off of rookie Brandon Pfaadt but then failed to score the remainder of the game, and now they are on the brink of elimination.  Unsurprisingly the Diamondbacks will start Zac Gallen and the Brewers Freddy Peralta.

Previewing the game two starting pitchers between the Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fans of the Milwaukee Brewers are quite familiar with Zac Gallen.  He has had tremendous success against them in the past.  Throughout six career starts he has a 1.75 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and is averaging 11:0 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.

Overall this year Zac Gallen has a 3.47 ERA.  He eclipsed 200 innings pitched and 200 strikeouts for the first time in his career and had a very dominant first half of the season.  His ERA did inflate to 4.03 during the second half of the season and overall he has a 4.42 ERA on the road.

Opposing him will be Freddy Peralta.  He put together a healthy season composed of 30 starts, a 3.86 ERA, and 210 strikeouts.  August was an exceptional month for him as he was awarded NL Pitcher of the Month by Major League Baseball.

Career numbers wise Freddy Peralta has thrown just 16.1 innings against the Diamondbacks, but he does have a 0.55 ERA.  Additionally he has been a better pitcher at home (3.44 ERA vs 4.34 ERA).  He now will be tasked with keeping his team in the playoffs the day after the Brewers shockingly had to heavily rely on their bullpen.

Game two of the Brewers and Diamondbacks will start at 6:08 PM CT.
